Kiasma
Kiasma, the Museum of Contemporary Art, can hardly be missed when in Helsinki. The white, curved building located between the Main Post Office and Parliament House, stands next to the statue of Marshal Mannerheim. Kiasma was opened to the public in 1998, but not before much heated debate about the siting of the gallery. Some felt that the statue of Finnish national hero Mannerheim was threatened by the modern building coming too close. However, when completed it turned out that Kiasma was, after all, a beautiful backcloth for the statue.
